The Hungarian short film ‘Sing’ (2016) by director Kristóf Deák was awarded with the Oscar for Best Live Action Short film during the Academy Awards on Sunday 26 February. Sing brings home Hungary’s fourth Oscar. The first was won by Ferenc Rófusz for his animated short ‘The Fly’ in 1981. Director Istán Szabó’s ‘Mephisto’ was next in 1982 as Best Foreign Language Film. László Nemes’s ‘Son of Saul’ won in the same category in 2016.
